Transports in Santiago |
Santiago de Chile has a large network of public transport called Transantiago:
The subway (metro) has 4 lines which serve all the main areas of the city. The ticket costs 400 to 460 chilean pesos depending on the hour. It also works with a pre-paid magnetic card called “tarjeta BIP” you can charge as much as you want.
The buses function exclusively with the Bip card and cost 400 pesos per use.
Santiago has many taxis anytime of day or night. They work on a meter based on distance and time, but we recomend you always ask for the price befote entering the taxi. For example, a taxi from the airport to the hostal should not be more than 15.000 pesos.

The two main companies for travel within Chile are TURBUS and Pullman BUS. For International travel and special excursions, other companies are available. |
Supermarkets and malls are open from 9h to 22h, Sunday included. Smaller businesses are closed on Saturday after 15pm and Sunday.

To the south, at the end of the world is a long narrow country, Chile, located on the western edge of America, between the Andes and the Pacific Ocean.
